Darrell Coons
If you’ve met Darrell Coons, our Associate Pastor of Worship and Administration (and whatever else needs doing), you’ve discovered a Christ-follower with a love for the Lord, for His people, and for a world that needs to find Him. Darrell truly believes that “all things are possible through Christ” and dives into ministry with a “can-do” and “why not” attitude. At home in many different styles of worship, Darrell’s calling at Westview is to create a blended worship atmosphere in our Early Worship that will appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds.
A native of Kansas, transplanted to his adopted home of Alabama, Darrell has served churches in Alabama, Kansas, Florida, Missouri and Illinois, most recently pastoring a non-denominational church in Belleville, Il. Darrell graduated from Samford University in Alabama with a Music Education degree, attended Midwestern Baptist Seminary and graduated from Eden Theological Seminary with an MDiv. in 1991.
Darrell’s “rock” of support is his wife, Sandy, who is an executive with a marketing firm in Clayton, MO. They have a son and a daughter, both married, in Alabama, but more importantly, four grandsons who are “the best, brightest and cutest grandsons in the world!”
Darrell also serves as Chaplain with Fire Support Ministries of Belleville, serving the Belleville, Northwest, East Side, Swansea, and MidAmerica Airport fire departments, as well as the Belleville Retired Firefighters, the Illinois Association of Retired Firefighters, and the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief. He’s an avid reader, a fisherman who rarely gets to fish, and a longtime motorcycle rider.
